MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE has released four studio albums, along with a scrapped album ("Conventional Weapons") and other EPs ("Mad Gear and Missile Kid").
Their studio albums are listed below along with their years of release.
The album that began it all.
BULLETS is their debut album, and for good reason. The songs are a mix of different styles, the tempo is slightly off in certain places - you can practically hear them figuring their style out.
This album features a mix of different sounds, from frantic riffs ("Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough For The Two Of Us") to sweet and gentle strumming ("Early Sunsets Over Monroeville"). The lyrics center around themes of depression, hopelessness, anger, pessimism and disillusionment.
Gerard's raw vocals, the frenzied guitars and pained lyrics make this album out to be one of my favorites. It may not be polished and perfect like its successors, but it has a special place in my heart. It's angry, it's fragmented, it's messy, it's dirty - it's a masterpiece.
The album that took them from obscurity to fame.
REVENGE is MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE's first concept album. It follows the story of the "Demolition Lovers" (pictured on the album cover) introduced at the end of BULLETS, a Bonnie-and-Clyde type duo that die together in a gunfight. The man goes to hell only to realize that his lover is still alive. The devil tells the man that can reunite with her if he brings him the souls of a thousand evil men. The man accepts, and is promptly sent off to Earth to complete his task.
The album's sound is thrashy and energetic, full of rapid riffs and heavy drums.
The album that guaranteed them greatness.
Fun Fact: I own this album on CD!
The hidden masterpiece.
Can I borrow your rain coat? When the world is too blue so I put my night-light colored sunglasses on. There's still the half-burned polaroid picture of us under your ashtray, that I look at to remember my face.
